This weekend I met up with some family and friends to practice my presentation and have a book signing in my home town of Georgetown, Texas at the Public Library. I had a great time catching up with old friends and family that I had not seen in nearly 30 years. Guess that means that I'm getting old! :-)
The Library was a great facility. Here I am setting up my slide show on the overhead. The room could seat 200 people, had a huge screen that dropped down out of the ceiling in front of a good dry erase board. It would have been a great room for student lectures. They had another room set up where you could have the audience sitting at tables too. We didn't expect to fill the room since this was just some family and friends to sit and listen to me practice. Had a great time and now I have a good idea of what it takes to set up and present. Much more work than I envisioned, but SO much fun. Here are some pictures of Dad and I setting up the table and banner. And people wonder where I get my sense of humor! By the way, my mother is taking the pictures. It is so great to have a wonderful family to help give support.
Here are some of my family and life long friends starting to show up. Here is my "Other Mom" Wanda Harris sitting beside my cousins Junior and Claudia Doerfler. When I was growing up if I wasn't at Michael Harris' house, then he was at mine. Unless we had snuck off to the river!
Quint and Cheryl Schneider are some of the oldest and dearest friends I can remember.
These are some of the best childhood friends that anyone can have. We played guitar in our church youth group and hung out together outside of church sponsored activities as well. It's hard to find true friends like this, and a treasure to be able to reconnect after so many years. It was a huge surprise when LisaVan Antwerp-Rangel and her husband Max drove up from Houston. This is Lisa with Quint and I. I think this may be one of the only pictures of all three of us, and not one guitar! It felt funny without our guitars, even after all these years. I certainly felt truly blessed.
If you have not had a chance to check out my book, please do. You can find it on Amazon/Kindle, Nook and iBooks in addition to the 3L Publishing web site. If you purchase it through the link below, I get a bigger percentage...just saying! ;-)
